Vision & Mission Statement

The Student Affairs and Services Office of Southland College complements the life of the students by creating a wholesome atmosphere that facilitates holistic growth, academic success and student satisfaction.

Objectives

  • To provide varied programs and services to cater the needs and protect the interest of the students
  • 2.To promote and maintain an environment that produces God-fearing, productive, enlightened and law-abiding students
  • 3.To support the academic programs of the institution through activities and services that are student - centered

Student Affairs/Activities

  • ORIENTATION. Before classes start, all freshmen and transferees and their parents are provided with a general orientation about the college. Presentations and campus tours are facilitated by OSAS and the guidance and counseling office.
  • ACQUAINTANCE DAY. This activity is initiated to formally welcome the freshmen and transferees to the college. This program is spearheaded by the OSAS in coordination with the Southland Supreme Student Council.
  • LEADERSHIP SEMINARS AND TRAININGS. Officers and members of the various clubs and organizations undergo leadership seminars and trainings for competence.
  • COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT. Students are encouraged to participate in the community-based activities to make them aware of the social, cultural, and economic aspects of living.
  • SOCIAL RELATIONS. Students are provided with activities that can offer varied experiences necessary for their social well-being.
  • CULTURAL ACTIVITIES. Groups and events are organized to provide channels for the expression of special talents and creative talents. Students are hence encouraged to participate in the contests such as public speaking, music, dances, drama, arts and the like.
  • SPORTS AND ATHLETICS PROGRAM. With the supervision of the sports moderator, sports and athletics program aims to produce physically fit students by engaging in various sports activities and to promote the value of sportsmanship, camaraderie, teamwork and fair play
  • SPIRITUAL EVENTS. Students are encouraged to join in the spiritual programs to strengthen their faith and relationship with God.
  • JOURNALISM ACTIVITIES. The College implements activities for self-expression and for the enhancement of the journalistic potential and writing craft of the students. It also manages the official student publication of the college, runs all the business and financial affairs of the yearbook and takes charge of the publication of the student manual.
  • STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS. Student Organizations serve as a venue for developing the leadership potentials of the aspirant student-leaders. The Student Welfare and Development Office supervises the non-academic affairs of the students. Among its functions is to evaluate and recognize clubs and organizations within the campus.
  • RESEARCH DAYS. The academic community is made aware of the significance of research in the world’s development. Faculty and students displayed their inventive prowess and their research outputs. Guests from Silliman University and other prestigious schools and companies are invited to grace the affair by sharing their expertise in the field of research.
  • CO-CURRICULAR AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR AWARDS DAY. Awards for outstanding performance in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities may also be given to students who excel in these fields, based on the following criteria: 1) amount and quality of performance in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, 2) intensity of leadership shown in such activities, and 3) significance of activities to over-all programs and goals of the College.
  • FIELDTRIPS AND OFF-CAMPUS ACTIVITIES. Educational Tours-an extended educational activity involving the travel of students and supervising faculty outside the school campus which is relatively of longer duration usually lasting for more than one day and relatively more places of destination than a field trip. Field Trip-an educational activity involving the travel of students and supervising faculty outside the school campus but is of relatively shorter duration usually lasting for only one day and with fewer places of destination.

Student Services

  • HEALTH SERVICES. The clinic provides the basic medical and dental needs of the resident pupils, students, employees and the immediate family members (spouse and children) of the regular employees of Southland College. It also offers various services. Likewise, the clinic conducts physical, medical and dental examinations for students. The Health Services Staff is composed of physician, dentist and nurses

  • GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING CENTER. The Guidance Center is an important part of the Southland College educational unit. This is under the Students Affairs and Services and is responsible for the provision of valuable assistance to students from Preschool, Elementary, High School and College. The Guidance Center is also responsible for the implementation of the Guidance and Counseling Development Program for the school through guidance curriculum, individual student planning and responsive services.

  • SCHOLARSHIP ADMINISTRATION. The college provides quality education to financially deprived but intelligent and skillful students through the OSAS. The said office handles all forms of scholarship grants and aids funded by the College Unit, private agencies and individual benefactors.

  • STUDENT DISCIPLINE AND CONDUCT. In line with the mission and vision of OSAS to promote an enduring environment for the formulation of God-fearing, productive, enlightened and law-abiding students, the discipline officer implements policies and regulations to ensure a quiet environment and hygienic campus. Moreover importantly, the committee is guided with clear guidelines and the framework for fair, responsible and consistent dealing, taking into consideration the protection of rights of every student.

  • FOOD SERVICES. Serving nutritious and healthy food is an important goal of the school. The food services are managed by knowledgeable in meal planning, nutritional guidelines and proper food handling and safety and implements a health-focused program

  • SECURITY SERVICES. The school’s security personnel are highly trained, trusted and certified. They have undergone intensive selection process, which includes in-depth background checks followed by extensive training in first aid, fire prevention, customer service and security-specific skills. All to ensure safety of the academic community and the school’s facilities, and assets,
